Peerage Capital is a long-term investment firm known for partnering with businesses across real estate and private capital. At the helm is Miles S. Nadal, who has established a reputation for combining institutional capital with a deeply held belief that businesses succeed best when people come first.

Through its growing network of partner companies, Peerage helps manage and administer roughly $11 billion in assets. Peerage Realty Partners is one of the largest residential real estate service platforms in North America, reaching more than $50 billion in home sales each year. With over 250 offices and 6,000 sales representatives and employees, Peerage Realty integrates services like mortgage, title, insurance, escrow, and property management into a seamless ecosystem that reflects Nadal’s belief in value creation.

Beyond investments, Nadal is deeply committed to philanthropy, supporting causes in education, health, arts, and community development, notably the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre & Miles Nadal Heart Centre at Mt. Sinai Hospital, both in Toronto. His approach to business is inseparable from his values, building partnerships that create enduring value and not just financial returns.

That philosophy shaped Peerage’s interest in Ourboro.

How Peerage and Ourboro Came Together

In 2021, Ourboro’s shared-equity model was introduced to Nadal by Trevor Maunder, President and CEO of Peerage Capital, who had met with the co-founders, Nicholas Pope and the late Norm Tasevski, and immediately recognized a unique opportunity.

“Trevor called me on a Saturday night and said there’s something for you to look at, the perfect legacy commitment for you and your family.”

This call marked the beginning.

When Nadal subsequently met with the Ourboro team, the conversation quickly moved beyond capital. Both sides shared a conviction that homeownership remains one of the most powerful ways to build long-term financial security in Canada, and that for millions of aspiring homeowners, the down payment has become the single greatest barrier to entry.

For Nadal, this challenge touched on personal experience. He grew up in a 900-square-foot, two-bedroom apartment in Toronto, raised by parents who worked hard but never owned a home. His family could not save the down payment required to buy, even when their income would have supported it. That experience stayed with him, shaping the belief that access to homeownership often has more to do with structure than with effort.

“I went to school in an affluent neighbourhood, but I was one of the few kids at that school whose family did not own a home. And it bothered me. We didn’t have a down payment. And from that point forward, it stuck in my mind that there must be many more Canadians in a similar position, who long to have a place to call their own.”

By providing up to $250,000 for a down payment in exchange for a share of a home’s future appreciation, Ourboro offered a solution to the down payment gap, one that aligned investor returns directly with homeowner success.

Peerage was able to bring together Ourboro’s innovative approach to first-time homeownership with their long-term capital and operating experience. The partnership was designed not only to scale access to homeownership, but also to do it in a way that was sustainable, transparent, and investor-aligned.

Growing the Impact

Together, Peerage and Ourboro have expanded both reach and impact.

  • Partnered with the LiUNA Pension Fund of Central and Eastern Canada to expand Ourboro’s shared equity program; secured $5 million in Government of Canada funding.
  • Expanded our capital base with support from Scotiabank, CMHC, LiUNA, and Peerage Capital, setting a target of growing from nearly 200 co-owned homes to 600 by 2026.
  • Launched a $50 million Opportunity Fund with BOF Capital to support greater homeownership in Canada’s Black communities.

Why This Matters

For Nadal, the work represents a combination of personal history and professional purpose. For investors, it demonstrates how thoughtfully structured capital can address a national challenge while delivering long-term value. And for first-time homebuyers, it opens doors that might otherwise remain closed.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this, and although my family has been honoured and privileged to contribute to many wonderful initiatives, none is as gratifying or will be as long-lasting as the co-ownership partnership with Ourboro.”

Miles S. Nadal

Guided by the vision and values of Nadal, Peerage Capital’s support enables Ourboro to remain focused on its core mission: making homeownership more accessible to Canadians. Together, the partnership reflects a belief that meaningful impact and financial value are not mutually exclusive.
