How long have you been with Ourboro?
I have been working with Ourboro since May 2025.
What does your day-to-day look like as a Mortgage Agent?
As Ourboro’s in-house mortgage agent, my goal is to help our clients feel confident and informed as they navigate one of the biggest financial decisions they’ll ever make, getting a mortgage.
Most mornings start with reviewing applications, checking in on files, and making sure everything’s on track behind the scenes. I go through emails, follow up with lenders, and stay on top of any deadlines or documents that need attention.
Throughout the day, I spend a lot of time talking with clients to figure out what works best for them. I’m always here to answer questions, break down the complicated stuff, and make sure they feel supported every step of the way.
When I’m not working directly with clients, I’m keeping up with the latest industry updates, running info sessions for our referral partners and homebuyers, and connecting with lenders.
By the end of the day, I’m usually circling back with updates, wrapping up files, and getting everything set for tomorrow.
It’s definitely a busy role, but what drives me is making sure our clients feel taken care of. I always say, “Let me handle the details so you can focus on the exciting part, your new home.”
How did you get started in this field?
I’ve been in the financial services industry for over 10 years now, but my interest in this world started back in college. With a family full of entrepreneurs, I always knew I wanted to do something business-related. I was drawn to the idea of helping people make smart financial decisions and build something meaningful for their future.
I began my career as an insurance broker, which gave me a solid foundation in personal finance and risk management. It was during that time that I collaborated with a mortgage agent on a client’s file, and that was my turning point. I was immediately drawn into the world of lending and mortgage brokering. The idea of helping people reach one of life’s biggest milestones just clicked with me.
Since then, I’ve never looked back. Whether it’s working with first-time buyers, seasoned investors, or families looking to refinance, I take pride in making the mortgage process as smooth, transparent, and stress-free as possible.
What led you to Ourboro?
My journey to Ourboro began during a referral partner meeting while I was working as a mortgage agent at another brokerage. At that meeting, I was introduced to what Ourboro does and was instantly drawn in. There truly isn’t another company doing what we do, and Ourboro’s unique, partnership-based approach to real estate made a lasting impression on me.
After that meeting, I started following the company on LinkedIn to learn more. Not long after, I came across a posting that Ourboro was looking for a mortgage agent to join their team. The opportunity felt like a natural next step so I applied right away.
During the interview process, my excitement only grew. I saw firsthand the passion behind the company, the innovation in their approach, and the potential to make a real difference in people’s lives. I was thrilled to join the team and help contribute to Ourboro’s mission of making homeownership more accessible.
Where can we find you when you’re not working?
I’m all about spending quality time with family and friends. I’m a big fan of BBQs, nothing beats grilling outside with a cold frosty in hand.
I also love getting outdoors, driving through scenic routes or exploring different cities, countries and cultures. I’m always up for trying something new, from unique foods to new experiences.
At home, I like to unwind with music, a good movie or TV series, and I love gaming. I think it’s important to enjoy the little things in life and make the most of each moment.
What book are you currently obsessed with?
I’m currently reading Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and it’s been a game changer in how I think about work, creativity, and fulfillment. The book dives into the psychology of “optimal experience”, that state where you’re so fully immersed in what you’re doing that time seems to fly by. Mihaly calls this the flow state, and he explains how we can structure our lives and work in ways that make us more likely to reach it.
What I love about this book is how practical it is. It’s not just theory, it offers real insight into how we can find more meaning and enjoyment in our everyday lives by aligning our skills with the right level of challenge.
What’s something that people often find surprising about you?
People are usually pretty surprised to learn that I’m a bit of a goofball. I love cracking jokes, being silly, and just having fun, especially since the financial world is often seen as all serious and no play.
I think it’s important to mix a little laughter in with the hard work. At the end of the day, buying a home is a big deal, but it doesn’t have to feel like all stress and no fun!
If you were an inventor, what would you invent to help the real estate market?
I’d invent a smart assistant. Think Siri meets a mortgage wizard.
It would follow you around on your phone (don’t worry, not in a creepy way) and act as your personal home-buying coach. It would:
- Send you friendly nudges when you’re overspending your down payment fund (“Maybe skip that $9 latte today?”).
- Let you scan a home listing and instantly tell you if it fits your budget and your lifestyle, including commute time, school zones, and how close the nearest pizza place is.
- Help you plan months (or years) ahead by projecting how your savings, income, and credit score could affect your buying power over time.
Oh, and it would come with a “Keep Calm” mode for when interest rates go up, giving you a pep talk and reminding you of your long-term goals.
Where is your favourite place to spend time in the GTA?
One of my favourite places to spend time in the GTA is along Lakeshore. Whether it’s walking the boardwalk or just relaxing by the water, there’s something about being near the lake that instantly puts me at ease. The combination of nature and city energy makes it the perfect escape.
Plus, with Toronto and Mississauga just around the corner, there’s always something new to explore, from great food spots to cultural events and hidden gems. It’s the best of both worlds: peaceful when you need it, exciting when you want it.
